as title, except the system hasn't crashed, how do i start up in safe mode?

I can get into windows, but internet explorer is corrupt, and so is the system restore, so i need to restore the system to about an hour ago when it wasn't.

thanks.

and I'm using XP Pro, if that helps.

got it now, but I'm gonna have to reformat. unless you can see another way?

Because even in safe mode the system restore tool doesn't work, it come up with that send/don't send error report thing.

Slipstreaming, easily accomplished with a .net program called nlite, is a process by which you can add or remove things from the Windows install disk. What you want to do is add SP2 into your XP disk so that when it installs it'll install SP2 straightaway. While you're at it you can remove stuff you don't use (I always nuke Windows Movie Maker), change default settings, and even make the installation process completely unattended.

Slipstreaming is pretty easy, as far as I remember you copy the contents of the XP CD to a folder then download the SP2 executable and run it with some command line options. Your wasting your time doing any sort of XP install these days without having SP2 slipstreamed into the disc.

that could be an issue, not to confident with command prompt stuff.

yep that'd be great stickroad thanks, erm... i was wondering if u have to have a legit version of xp to slipstream it with sp2? (not saying I havn't but u know...)

All you need is a disc with XP on and the Service Pack 2 file weather that will be from a CD or downloaded of the internet.
