Hi
Younger brother is having issues with a dell P2210 monitor (not bought from OCUK boo hiss
), basically the inverter or tube for the top left of the screen is intermittently faulty (flashing like a 70's disco*).
It's meant to have a 3 year warranty but there is no service tag (a google suggests that is common for monitors under 24"), and DELL are apparently all the help of an icecube in a supernova, basically saying he needs the original order number that the retailer he bought it from had from Dell, as apparently the serial number, model number and his receipt from the retailer are not enough.
I'm pretty much stuck, I'm guessing there has to be a way for end buyers to get service from Dell for the monitors, but I'm stuffed if I know how (by comparison Sony and other monitor makers have excellent support often just needing the serial number - I remember arranging a Sony RMA in all of 5 minutes, the same with a low budget monitor).
I think my brother has spent over an hour on the phone to dell (via the number on their site), getting transferred hither and thither.
Any suggestions?
*I suddenly have an urge to wear flares and listen to the Trammps.
