Nothing dirty but on Sunday there were 6 couples, 3 of us old and 3 of us young (parents and kids basically).

One of my daughters was on about her husbands sleeping habits and said he spent most nights in the other bedroom.
The other 4 couples then said they mostly sleep separately.
The other thing was that all 5 couples also went bed at a different time to their partners with 4 of them being the bloke going later one of them being the woman going later.

Me and my wife have always gone to bed at the same time ** for the last 45 years of marriage and always fall asleep in each others arms (aaaahhhh)

** Obviously I gig with my bands now and then so I might get in around 1am but as soon as I get in bed we cuddle.

I'm now wondering if we're actually weird.

So OCUK, do you go to bed at the same time and do you sleep in the same bed?

One of the couples for the reason of this thread are my In Laws.
In 2021 I went on a Stag Weekend with my Brother in Law and shared a bed.
We did half of the famous Leeds Beer Run and even filled with beer I didn't get one wink of sleep being in the same bed as my Brother in Law.
I'd seen nothing like it, the noises he made were worse than snoring and at least 3 times he hit me with his flailing arms.
At one point I collected spare pillows etc to try and sleep on the floor, it failed.
I then pushed my wheelchair as far away as I could from him and filled it with pillows etc to try and get to sleep, it failed.
The following day I went down to reception to see if thy had a spare room, normal days were £38 but this weekend was £230.
I then got more drunk during the second stage of the Beer Run and I actually slept until the alarm went off :)
I can understand why my In Laws sleep in separate rooms.

I don't want to sound insulting but I just don't believe you. Let's say the bed is the larger double which is 4.5ft over the normal double of 4ft, that's just 2.25ft per adult. My should are wider than that. And those measurements are taking about being right on one edge of the bed to the other. I reality you want half a foot from the edge each side, so you're 2 adults sharing about 3.5ft.

A double is for a young adult, not 2 grown adults

I can't believe I've just taken a tape measure up to bed.
I started the thread, my bed is 4ft 4ins wide and me and my Mrs sleep in it no problem and have done for 45 years of marriage.
We've probably had around 4 beds in that time but they've always been the same size.

When we have some time let me introduce Google to you so that you can get the measurements of a double bed :p

A double bed in the UK is 135 centimeters wide by 190 centimeters long, or 4'6" by 6'3".
That means my bed is smaller at 4'4"
Which Google do you use?

Seriously though I'm impressed. The space you have is less than you'd have as a kid in a single bed.

We met at 16, my parents left me to live in Nigeria so until we got married we actually slept in my single bed for years.
When we got married and had a double it was massive.

To be honest there has been some proper crap on here over the years but somebody saying Laws of measurements don't allow two people to sleep in a double bed is one of the best yet :)

I haven't taken a tape measure to it, but assumed that ours is a standard double. Funny thing was on our most recent holiday my other half actually complained about the (admittedly very large) bed we had in the apartment, as apparently I was too far away from her in the night.

Same here every time we go away which is once a month.

You need to lighten up. You seem cranky. Have you thought about trying an alternative sleeping arrangement?

You're just a troll claiming it's impossible for two people to sleep comfortably in a double bed
You may sleep on your back with your 4 foot wide shoulders with your Teddy Bear but me and my wife never sleep on our backs, she sleeps facing left and I alternate during the night.
