ali

thats how i applied mine the other day (Huddy's way) but somehow i got some on the round connectors underneath?????!!!!! but wipped it off with a dry cloth and it seemed fine but the copper glow was a bit stained by thermal paste.

should i worry about this? Everything seems to be working ok though?

you can also get alcohol swabs from the chemist ^_^ they will clean heatsinks nicely.

what i do to avoid getting micro-fibres onto the heatsink. I dab the alcohol swab onto the back of the coffee filter, let the alcohol absorb into it and then use the front of the coffee filter to clean the heat sink.

it seem to be a lot of work, should i have the cpu on the mother board or should just leave it on it case, will the heat sink not be clean, im thinking of get the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

The Freezer Pro 7 comes with good paste already applied.

When I got my system from overclockers it had an Freezer 7 pro and they also "hand install" arctic silver 5 (how else do you install it o.O?) so does that mean they scrub it off first or does the cooler always come with silver 5?

The ACF Pro comes with MX-2 pre-applied. I very much doubt that they remove it as it's just as good (if not better) than AS5.

I looked and it says

"- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Intel approved cooler
- Arctic Silver 5 Heatsink compound professionally hand installed by our technicians"

I know most of the info about their products is usually copy-paste, but oh well :p if MX-2 is better then I'm not complaining.
