How do you guys fasten your cards in when the threads break in your case?

This is a real pain in the ass tbh, I have a Antec P-180 case and both the screw threads ( dual slot card) have worn out where I fasten my GFX card into, as GPU's are so big and heavy these days I usually like to fasten them in quite well so I've had to resort to placing a motherboard raiser on the end of the screw as a kind of make shift bolt but you have to use a pair a pliers to hold it in place while you fasten the screw, really is a pain when you want to change gpu or testing etc.

What do you guys do to remedy this problem if at all?

buy a new case :)

you must have changed your card's a hell of a lot if the thread has gone.

you might be able to drill it out and use a nut and bolt perhaps ?

Not much use now, but if the threads gone you are overtightening the screws. They only need to be tight enough to not wiggle out with vibration.

Don't see why a cable tie shouldn't work, it's only a tether.

Edit: if you want to go down the screw route, get a bigger screw by .5 (self tapper) and it will cut it's own thread, it means there is potential for metal droppings to enter your case though, so I personally either wouldn't bother, or I'd strip the whole case.

Thanks for some of the suggestions, I try looping a cable tie through the two holes, didn't think of that before.

I guess this isn't as common a problem as I thought it was, I had this happen on quite a few cases but then I am always changing cards around plus maybe I have been tightening them a bit too much.

If its aluminium, you probably won;t even need a tap! No idea what thread it is, if its an M3, go to 6-32UNC (Hard drive screw) otherwise M4.
