Do you listern with all 5 speakers, 4 speakers or 2 speakers??

I listern to my music with 4 speakers, cos it makes the music much fuller then just having the 2 speakers. 5 speakers just ruins the stereo

I find that outputting 2 channels to your digital reciever and let that do "Super Stereo" (stereo to all four) or Dolby Pro Logic - Music seems to work best for 4 speakers.

I listen to all my music in stereo, anything else dosent sound right, im sure it depends on peoples room setups aswell.

Depends. If you're talking about cheap PC speakers then they often sound really tinny when you're just using 2 of the 5 satellites so you really need to upmix to 4 or 5. If you're talking about quality hi-fi speakers then just 2 speakers (+sub) should sound better for music.

I've recently moved from a 5 channel system to a stereo only system because I'd only listen to music in stereo and very rarely use the surround sound capabilities. Stereo is the way forward imo.

Stereo, as most sound DSP's sound dire.
Although Lexicon Music Surround does sound very good indeed.
Also on proper Hi-Fi speakers, not PC tinny pap.

Using an X-Fi with 5.1 speakers, I have music blaring out of all the speakers. Don't really notice a lack of stero really, the mixup seems perfectly fine. Just make sure the mp3's are good quality.

2 speakers and a sub. nothing more.

edit: actually i lied. 2 speakers and two subs.

Most Audiophiles will frown at the use of subs, and choose to use full-range stereo speakers (if room allows)

Hi-Fi comprises of standmount speakers, no subwoofer.

That's nice:) in my room standmount speakers alone (which i have btw) arent good enough.

Theres nothing wrong with using subs aswell, just to extend the frequency range a bit lower than you'll get with even floorstanders.

I listen to music in stereo, Hi-Fi type setup. A good stereo image can't be beat tbh :)

With Pro Logic 2 it sounds like a mess. I haven't really thoughth about 4 speakers though. *tries it*.

Hmmm... it is quite a odd experience. It kind of sounds like there isn't any speakers and the music is just there. One problem though, it doesn't give out very high bass with it.

It works very well indeed with certain types of music - Imogen Heap, Hide and Seek - goes to try more.

Hideous with Mars Volta. I think i will experiment more tomorrow. :)
