How do you make Lentil soup with ham ribs?

Ok last week I made my first ever pot of soup, Which was a Scotch Broth with some lamb.

This week I thought I would try making some lentil soup with ham ribs.

So I have onions, carrots, a bag of lentils, pototoes and some ham stock cubes.
oh and some ribs


How would you go about making the soup?
I don't own a blender.

Ok soup all made but it's toooo salty.

How do I smooth it out(or whatever) Just add more water?
