How do you manage for files? Tips please

I have 2 hard drives installed with a mixture of Games, Movies and Music spread across them randomly.

I want to Reorganise things so I know where everything is.

How do you keep your computer nice and managable?

Also is there any programs that make your media interface more interesting. I simply just run every file through VLC but I would like some kind of nice menu system.

Any tips ?
