Basically, its my AS exams in May/June and all though i have started revising its a very small amount. I just don't have the motivation to pick up a book and start revising.

Anybody have any revision strategies/ or way to motivate yourself?

Only work well under pressure.

Same. I worked really well through high school since the teachers actually bothered to give work and deadlines. In college though, the tutors are as lazy as the students, which means little to no motivation.

Do you want money? Do you want a decent job? do you want to go to a good Uni? If yes then get revising.

That should be enough to motivate you because sadly enough, unless you come from a privileged background, given the number of people with degrees, competition for jobs worth having is a lot harder. A lot of Grad jobs require you to have attained enough points from your AS before you can even apply.

Landing on your feet is a lot easier with decent grades / education behind you, unless you get very lucky.

I'm actually doing some revision for a business exam that's in May right now. It's surprisingly easy for me. I just picture myself in my exam with my current knowledge and come to the conclusion I will fail therefore I revise more.

Do you want to fail or pass? If you want to fail, bum it. Want to pass? Revise. It's simple dude.

Don't think about revising... just do it. Sit down and do it. Take it easy the first couple of days, and then build it up from there. Take regular breaks.

That's my advice for you.

I have the exact same problem. It doesn't help that I actually hate my 6th form either =\

Physical Exercise, doing something you enjoy everyday- gives you something to look forward to when you arent particularly enthused about working :)

If your revision can be done away from a computer, THEN SERIOUSLY GET AWAY FROM IT.

There are too many distractions in today's world. My advice for you is to make your notes as short and succinct as possible, maybe do them twice, getting them even shorter, making a unit fit on one or two pages, full of key points, that trigger memories. Do this in an unfamiliar location such as outside, a library. Music could help, but listen to some easy listening/repetitive stuff, my revision play list comprises of Sigur Ros, Air, Boards of Canada and a bit of Ludwig Van.

Revise the hardest stuff first/more. Take breaks. Tidy the room you're in first, so that you have no excuses to just end up randomly tidying it midway through.

You want to pass yeh? So get on with it! :p

I say this now at the end of my easter holidays, still with loads of work to do for uni. I'll be sat in the library for a week solid, deadlines help me work, but only about 2 days before they're due. :D

Before I started to work, I had a lot of time pulling myself out of bed, but since getting a decent job at the Ambulance Service I think to myself that its just one less shift till I can get out of here and into a proper career :)

AS exams? They should be in what you're best at. 3 weeks prior to exam is sufficient. If you're good at what you are doing, worked over the year and have a brain then its easy mode. It also depends on your subjects: languages require no revision if you have aptitude.

I'd say start when you're ready. I never, ever revised a day in my holidays, despite the keenies at school with their revision planners and what not. They were the ones who worked so hard over easter and then did F.A in the term and just whined about how ****** they were and how much work they had to do. Just pathetic it was really.

My advice: fear is your only guide. Get going when you are ready. Work in a very old building like a library. If you cannot hack 5 hour minimum revision days then start now.

That is all.

What are your subjects tho?

Find someone to revise with! I was talking to someone the other day, and we're both have the ability to do well, but we just don't spend enough/any time working on stuff we need to, we compared diaries and worked out when we're both free, and planned to work together at those times, it's either after lectures, or mine or hers in the evenings and weekends.

I think we're both people that need positive influences to motivate us, rather than just getting it done ourselves, and I think we'd create the right environment, other people are just draining, destroy your motivation.

No. no no no no no no. Do NOT find someone else to revise with unless you've spent all Easter studying yourself. This method 95% of the time is counterproductive and will have you procrastinating before you know it. Unless you are practising for an oral exam then there is little point. And this sounds like you might be getting distracted by the desire to pork this girl Moses, than revising.

Pain and torture = win. Sweat like nothing for up to 9 hours a day and you'll absolutely blow the competition away. Exams are no popularity contest and people are insecure enough to mislead you to make them/you feel better.

Do what you do. And start when you want.

Maths (mechanics), physics, geography, D.T

Geography im good at i just read through my file and knew nearly most it so im leaving that till the end and maybe over the few weeks just read through my file for about 1 hour a week to refresh my mind.

D.T havent started revising as i have no idea what to revise on, but my folder work and projects are on time.

Maths im doing pretty well at pure due to me doing h/w nearly every night in school term but holidays i havent even touched it. :(
Mechanics im ok at it, understand most of it but a few bits catch me out.

Physics not to brilliant on, tbh this is my worst subject out of the 4.

So ideally im going to revise Mechanics and physics at the start. I doubt i'll do revision this week as well. During school terms i find it easier as im a cycle or routine at school and i just follow it through at home pretty easily.
