How do you organise your photos?

My Dad is having problems with iPhotos.

He has an iPad2 and wants to synch photos to it but although he appreciates the iPhotos software, his camera doesn't have a GPS thingy and sometimes the dates aren't correct as the battery goes flat or whatever.

Is there a way of using something else besides iPhotos that works with the iPad2 so he can connect them without using iPhotos?

Hope the above makes sense...i haven't used many of Apple's products so i have no idea.

In iPhoto you can manually change the dates of pictures and input a location from where they were taken. To make syncing easier I'm not sure but I think you can create various albums and add pictures from different events to the albums and then sync said albums.

Not sure on any other software that can do it sorry
