How do you pack up a desktop PC before you post it?

I'm moving back to the UK next month from Hungary and would like to use a courier company to post my desktop PC.

Any idea how to pack it, so it doesn't break? I don't have any of the original boxes :(.

remove the heatsink and any expansion cards (gpu etc). ie the stuff that will cause the motherboard to flex should be removed and stored separately.
you can just keep it together, but the insides will need to be well packed and supported

When I moved to London my PC was my hand luggage. This was 13 years ago mind, might not be allowed now.

Just take the side panel off and fill it with foam, then put it back on.

If that seems like too much trouble then you can spray the foam through the open DVD tray.

Do not do any of this. I haven't owned a PC for 5 years.

So remove heatsink in gfx card (ssd and m2 drive are fine?). Then pack some bubble wrap around the outside of the case in the box.

Yeah anything that is socketed to the motherboard is a potential weak point but stuff that is mounted in bays is fine and m.2 are usually light weight and screwed in close to the board so don't have much flex or weight involved.

While generally not a problem I'd also make sure critical data was backed up in the cloud/online or whatever incase of stuff going missing and/or just incase x-ray machines, etc. caused any problems (usually don't).
