Pretty much (within realms of discussion!), there is a wiki list here of Wii U titles that are available from the NES -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_..._U_(PAL_region)#Nintendo_Entertainment_System

:)

Read the title as a crass name for boobs, Left disappointed.

I don't play old Nintendo games as I don't have the rose tinted glasses. I've never owned a NES or SNES or n64.

Basically this ^. Nintendo, these days, seems to be very much a cult thing. People that had the consoles can't enter a general gaming conversation without massively reminiscing about FF, Zelda and the like.

Pretty much everyone else doesn't get the fascination, I find.

As a life long Sega fanboi, even I'll admit Mario 64 is about the finest game ever committed to code. It stands up incredibly well today

Seriously ? you have never lived. Golden eye on N64..... epic days. Yea i cant stand android, My phone has to Deal with Personal and work (secure documents) that i cannot afford to have issues with so the walled garden is the only way i can easily manage it I.E i have to do nothing. Work simply wont entertain me sending NDA documents over a Android device so im stuck with the fruity type.

I know their are emulators but i cannot be bothered to botch controllers to work etc and of course thats not a discussion for here. I have no issue paying for the games i just wish Nintendo would release them on another platform at cost.

Will look at a Wii U. Maybe i can swap one some where with my PS4 as its not been turned on it over a year.

The Wii U is probably a safe bet in that you'll have access to all Wii U and Wii games. And you can also buy some games on the Wii U Virtual Console. The Pro controller is lovely and a great way to play the old games. The only negative might be your paying a lot of money to buy into the machine late (given the NX will be unveiled this year).

Similar to the Wii, DS or 3DS, I don't buy many download purchases from Nintendo given their archaic DRM tying the purchases to the hardware rather than an account. But there has been some good 1st party games on Wii U.

Otherwise a secondhand N64 if it's just SM64 (or games of that era) you want to play? Although without an upscaler it isn't going to look great on modern TV's.

If you don't want to spend much £££, you can pick up some dirt cheap Wii's (or you may still have one stuffed at the back of the cupboard yourself) on Gumtree.

You can buy some of the old Zelda's on Disk or from the online market, plus a load of the other now retro Nintendo's.

Even though the only ever non-PC systems I've owned are a gameboy, N64 and a Wii, they do hold some of my best gaming memories.

Worth playing all of the championed Zelda's, Mariokarts, Goldeneye/perfect Darks etc... great games.

I keep hunting for a Nintendo Red Tent Vs machine. I desperately want one.

I try to play on original hardware whenever possible, but they're mainly in storage now so I'll survive with the Wii VC versions tbh.

Although 95% of the parts for a Mamecade machine and 75% of the parts for a Virtual Pinball machine are sat in our storage unit just awaiting the point where we move into the house. Now to find a way to let the other half know... ;)

I bought a Wii U mainly to play old Nintendo games through Virtual Console. I haven't got round to buying as many as I would like but the Wii U has some great games on it anyway so I'm very happy with my purchase. It gets far more use than my PS4.

I use my Wii (very occasionally), there are a lot of old NES and SNES titles available in the Wii Shop, assuming it is still up?

I was actually wondering that, which is why I said the get Wii U. Quite curious myself if there is still a shop on the original Wii!:)

I wish Nintendo would follow Sega's lead and just release game multipacks or their own virtual machine for PC and Android.

There's really no excuse these days when you have access to a mass market like Steam.

Why would they want to give licence money away to someone else?

They wouldn't even have to use Steam, it was just an example of one way to get to mass market quickly.

I doubt the masses of people using illegal means are likely to buy a Wii/Wii-U or they would have done already by now. There's definitely a market at the right price point and I think they're missing out to be honest.

Well not if that strategy makes your business far less money. SEGA were in real dire straights for a while and survived through loans and investment from Sammy. They appear to make most profit from arcade/casino machines rather than traditional game revenue.

Whether wrongly or rightly I do admire Nintendo for sticking to it's strategy and keeping it's IP on it's own hardware. I doubt as a publisher they would make anywhere as near as much money as a hardware maker. It would be risky and a massive transition (i.e. making acquisitions of other developers to expand their resources, laying off employees etc.) That said who knows what the future holds and whether NX or the new mobile games with DeNA are successful.

EDIT: Bit slow on the reply there, and beaten to it :)

i play gamecube games on the wii from time to time. I still have all the games so why not :D.

Nothing can beat playing it on original hardware though. Still wish I had my SNES and n64.
