How do you protect your carpet?

Quick question, as above...

I'm having new carpet installed in the bedrooms and lounge in my flat which I want to preserve in the best possible manner. The floors are currently stripped back to the concrete. How do you protect carpet from caster wheels?

Cheers guys. I'll ask the fitters what they can do for me WRT offcuts. There should be plenty as the carpet will be off a 5m roll and the bedroom which I shall be using as a study is smaller than that!

OK cool, thanks. How does the Ikea floor protector grip to carpet? Does it move about at all?

Carpets were fitted on Friday and I picked up an Ikea Kolon carpet protector when I was in there a couple of weeks back. It seems to do the job.

So some time after my purchase and use of the Ikea Kolon I thought I would report back. It does a good job of protecting the carpet, but it does move with use and I find the need to readjust it every couple of days or so.
