How do you rate your Conroe upgrade?

To continue the theme echoed already in this thread:

Was on a 939 Venice @ 2.7GHZ
1GB of cheap ram
Nforce 3 AGP motherboard
X800XT

Now on:

E4300 @ 3.3GHZ
2GB of Geil Ram
P5N-E SLI
8800 GTS

General windows use:

Feels quite a bit nicer, especially if I am doing a lot of stuff at the same time, as it no longer seems to have any lags.

Work:

Photoshop/any programs like it are far quicker, feels a lot more responsive, and I am able to open Photoshop and browse the net, listen to music, and everything else without any slowdown. Filters apply quicker, and dont cause music for example to start "skipping". This is especially true when doing a lot of brush work.

Rendering: Read above really.

Gaming:

I can't even compare the 2, they are in totally different leagues. Image quality is better in all games. Some games still played well enough on my old system (HL2 comes to mind). But newer games like Q4 and Supreme Commander I wouldn't have even wish to attempt on my old system.

Overall, one of the best upgrades I feel I have made.

I practically moved from the same system as you to the same c2d setup. Its a brilliant improvement isnt it. Although you're having a laugh if you think that your old rig couldnt handle Q4 :) I had very decent graphics quality aswell as performance in it with the xtpe, nforce3 and a 3500 at about 2.7/2.8

ah ok, just you'd said attempt to run it.
Just making sure you knew that it was very capable of running it, even at relatively nice settings. my mate just bought it, better reason than any paired with my 8800GTS to install my copy :d

Old: XPM 2600 @ 2.5ghz, 1gb bh-5, X800XT.

New: E6300 @ 3.6Ghz, 2gb TEAM, HIS X1900XT.

Well my new one does seem a bit slow in games ;)

Went from an Opty 170 @ 2.5ghz
2GB DDR 400 Ram

to

E6600 @ 3.2ghz
2GB DDR2 800

I'm sure its faster but I'm pretty underwhelmed tbh.
Could have (probably should have) stayed on my AMD till the end of the year and then gotten something even better.

I even had an X2 4400+ at 3.0ghz and with my e6300 sitting comfortably at 3.4ghz every day is one of the best upgrades i've done. Of course if you have a 8800GTX it does help :)

Although it seems to me for some reason it takes a LOT longer to boot, theres like a 20 second delay at the start and a windows installation bar comes up now.

Its a good buy, but I would wait until an affordable quad core comes out.
