I think I need to beef up some my security but not quite sure how to do it.

Currently I have a note in the notes section of Microsoft Office Outlook that I use to write down all my passwords for my various online account and logins.

Say if someone was to steal my PC, they could potentially gain access to my online bank accounts by just going into outlook on my machine and looking in the relavent note and getting hold my logon details.

Can someone please suggest some ideas on how I can improve on my security, specifically storing my logon ids/passwords for online accounts.

I've got all my passwords in eWallet password protected. Not sure how easy that is to crack though.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Been doing some research, what about using TrueCrypt to create a new drive say 2gig. Then put my outlook .pst and any other important files in that encrypted volume. Then I only have to remember the password for that one volume. Sound good?

Sounds like a lot of bother for just a few passwords. I'd go with physical storage - not sticky notes on the desk, a discreet notebook with them written down would do.

On a related note, do people refresh their passwords? I've not changed passwords on anything for some time, would you leave it unchanged until (god forbid) it gets compromised, or do you rotate/change your passwords?

All my sensitive data is encrypted in a RAR using a memorised 12 character password that consists of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and characters! :p
My network is secure and the main reason I password protect this data is in case someone manages to gain local access to my computer. Better safe than sorry imho.

I just use the same password for all.

Except my bank accounts, and both logon details are stored in my brain!!!!!!

I just remember them. It helps that I only have a couple of passwords which I use for everything. I know this is bad practice, but I'd rather risk it than have to suffer a different password for the hundreds of sites I use. Sites like online banking, where security is paramount, never require you to enter the entire password anyway.

Just switched to using keepass with a memorized 24 digit password so that I can use a much more varied selection of passwords on other websites etc

I don't I have em all in my memory :).
I use one password for most sites, but I do make small changes to them Eg. add a special character to some sites or change a few letters into caps.
