Hi,

This is probably staring me straight in the eyes. But i cannot work it out.

I have a laptop that is wireless to my router.

I can see 'status' by right clicking it, sent and received bytes, speed etc.

But when I plug a network cable into the laptop from router I believe it switches over to network cable (do you call that LAN?) as priority or am I wrong in that?

How do I then see

A) what I am using, be it wired or wireless
and
B) Wired speed, status etc

Thank you.

In the network connections list right click on the ethernet connection and make sure that the "show icon in notification area" check box is ticked. That will then show the same info as the wireless connection but on a separate icon.

Windows 7?

Right-click taskbar > properties > customize > Network > show icons and notifications
