How do you sell your prints?(online)

Greetings,

I've been looking for ages to get a plugin/addons for my wordpress site which allows me to sell my photos but then i forgot i shall need printing/shipping too.


Anyone use the likes of external galleries?

Are they worth the extra cost?

At the moment Smugmug seems the winner as i can make galleries for clients (weddings) and then get it printed(Loxley)/shipped with no hassle! & with various sizes etc.

Seems okay but they only print on canvas i think?

I use gallery2 as a side-by-side site for my wordpress site.

As a previous poster has said I sort out the printing myself so as to have total control over the printing. All prints come to me to be checked before going out to the client.
 
I don't tend to sell prints online, the few that I do sell at all are usually limited runs of 5 or so and so they'll already have been printed at DSCL or similar. I find it much easier to sell a 30*20 print if someone can actually see it rather than on a web browser when it's all too easy to just move on to the next one.
 
Okay that's interesting, Some friends & family want to buy some landscapes shots. And I've used photo box for canvas prints and they were great so thnk using photobox for average jo blogs would be okay?


Hodders if you don't mind me asking do you use the likes of dscl?

It's just all a time thing for myself and not knowing how to print my own photos I tend to go to photo box or loxley.
 
I use DSCL, it's pretty straightforward and they also provide profiles for you to use to proof your photos before you send. They also provide a service to automatically process your photo for printing but I've never used that. I use a gallery plugin that let's people order, then I print through DSCL and send the print/frame on myself.
 
i would try and use a local printer if you can, i know we have a lot of photographers use us at my work and we do all the printing for them, photo box is ok for cheap prints but there not all that great on quality, im also sure they dont use calibrated equiptment, as my gf has used them, for things like photo albums and i was shocked at how bad they were.

Rojin what plugin do you use if you don't mind me asking?
 
I use The Turning Gate plugins which integrates with Lightroom so setting galleries up is pretty straight forward. It's not free, but they have lots of modules and it saved me having to do it all!

Dscl are hefty £ on canvas prints 32 x 20 76.99 not inc post :o (£20)
