How do you set custom AA settings for a particular game in catalyst control centre?

I am new to ATI and with the Nvidia control panel you could just add the .EXE file to the list and edit the 3d setings.

I want to run Mass effect 2 with AA forced but I only want 16xAA to be forced in that game alone. Is there an easy way of doing this?

It seems this basic functionality is missing!!!!!

Thanks.

You can create a custom profile for the .exe file :)
Just go into CCC and look at the profiles menu and Im sure it'll all become reasonably clear :p
It's really not that hard to find if you actually look, rather than expecting things to be laid out the same as the NVCP!

yes, i've looked and it is just awful compared to the nv control panel. I'm not some turd that hasn't read the tweak guide and hasn't investigated the CCC itself.

I just can't believe how terrible it is!!!!!

This was not an i'm new to ATI so i have no brain at all thread!!! I can see your "way" of doing it but it's ****

I've been with NV many times and TBFH I rarely used profiles, so to set one up in the CCC is no big deal, a one time thing.

does this not indicate you could not find it, not that it was a bad piece of software design??

i have ATI on my laptop and had nvidia on the pc (will be going to ATI on fri) and must admit, although both control panels are different, they both do pretty much what you need, just not in the same way.

The profiles in CCC seems pretty straight forward to me.....

Yup dead easy.

Set all your settings for a game, select the Profile Manager to give it a name and save it, repeat till you've done all the profiles for the games you want profiled.

Then when you want to play a game you have a profile for, right click the tray icon, Activate Profile, select said profile, then launch said game.

Thought it would do it automaticly

I've never really understood the need for profiles. I just have all my games set to "balanced" with 4xAA. Seems to be a great balance between performance and IQ

How can you not understand? Not all games support AA, not all games support in-game AA, for these games you need to change your settings. Then ares new games which may not perform well with higher levels of AA, and older games where you may want to increase settings.

This isnt a difficult concept.

I would say ATI are the lazy ones, how long we we been asking for proper game profiles? lol

This! Personally I couldn't care less about profiles, if I want 8 x AA I'll select it and then launch the game.

There's more in life to get upperty about than this ;)

FFS, you lot would be pretty angry if a game didn't save your controls/graphics settings within the game menus so why should you tolerate it in CCC.

If I worked for Nvidia or ATI I would employ people to reduce the number of mouse clicks when setting profiles. I would pay them well for it. It's the BASICS!!!

Nvidia 1, ATI 0

/thread

No it is not. The functionality of the control panel is to give you access to some options for the card and how it handles games. If you notice my sig my machine is Nvidia based not ATI, I am not biased. As it stands though a games menu is for that game, so yes I would be annoyed, but the GPU control panel is to allow you to apply some control to the card, which it does.
I and the vast majority of people do not care all that much about profiles, however I know I have the option to make one if I need it to do, regardless of manufacturer. Having premade profiles in a tweakable chart as per Nvidia is an extra, not a core requirement and few people will treat it any differently.

I hate to think how you would have dealt with the DOS boot disc days ;)
