No, this isn't a troll thread. Tomorrow, I will have accrued enough spare computer components to build another computer out of the old parts. I have everything except the case. The lack of a case means a lack of an on button.

Am I right in thinking I just have to close the contacts on that molex-shaped cable that comes out of the PSU and only has 2 wires going into it?

Cheers. :D

Short the pins on the bottom edge where the power button plugs in, not on the PSU itself.

I usually plug all the leads in to the power supply, turn on the PSU switch use a screw driver to touch the Power switch header on the mobo.

So what does that molex shaped cable do? I know it plugs into something on the front panel.

Edit: and where's the power header?

You touch these two pins at the same time with any conductive object, such as a screwdriver.

Molex plugs go into Hard drives and optical drives, the power switch header will be far far smaller.

Refer to your manual.

I'm talking about the one which only has 2 wires going into it and plugs into the front panel. Hard drive ones have more.
