How do you take screen shots

Stiil a bit lost, say if I wanted to take a screen shot of this. How would I do it

Once you have pressed that - you then open Paint, for example, go to 'edit' and paste - it should then be in the Paint file.

Isn't exactly hardware though, is it? ;)

press the button labelled 'print screen' or press alt+printscreen to take a pic of the active window. Then open mspaint and go to edit > pate or press ctrl+v. When saving the picture select jpg or png from the 'save as type' dropdown box.

edit: ach too late

Doesn't work in some situations, such as in games, and overlayed images (i.e. videos), in which case you might want to search for some software that can handle this (or the built in screen capture facility of the software you're using)

Cheers all,

The prt-scr button is not working here. What should happen when I press it then please.

Regards Tulloch

You shouldn't notice anything, but when you go into paint you'll have the paste option under the edit tab, when you click paste it'll paste in the screen shot.

Xfire is good for taking in game screenies.

I use a free program Called Screen Print 32. I've set it up to take snap-schots of the screen and save them as JPEGs. I just depress the Print Screen Button as many times as I like and the program keeps on saving them, renumbering each time. I don't have to open Word or any other program to paste each time. It's good for saving Internet files which won't download, any use? It can be set to print from the printer immediately etc.
