How do you update a bios?

I got a new mobo installed last year but I've not updated the bios at all, how do I do it? Is it a download or what?

mobo is in sig?

It's easy enough to do but why do you want to do it? Don't fix what isn't broke etc etc

USB stick with DOS.

edit: as others as mentioned definitely do not update unless you have to. Updated my mine today 1 hours before a powercut, talk about lucky.

I just update mine through the ASUS app that came with the board, via a USB stick is the way to go if you don't have that option.

Only ever do it if it is to resolve a fault or to improve performance. Don't do it just to tick a mental box!

P5Q deluxe has EZ flash 2 so a simple BIOS file on a USB pen will just laod the new BIOS. Very easy to do just remember you will lose all your current BIOS settings and do NOT turn off your PC when flashing it or you will have a dead mobo

That board had a backup bios, it's almost impossible to kill.

There are actually new boards with 3 bios coming out this year =D

Lots of boards have dual bios now so you always have a backup. Don't flash from Windows either. These days it's hard to go wrong...that said someone always finds a way!
