how do you work a ipod

Right,
some ingenious family member has got the dad a iPod touch for Christmas. I have zero interest in technology or gizmos's

The dad has a load of CD's, all i need to do is get them onto the ipod. I have windows xp on the computer. How do i go about this,

Install iTunes from the Apple website. Insert CD, there will be an option to rip music. Plug in iPod, setup, register and then sync

i setup the ipod when i turned it on via wifi, i think. if thats what you mean ? languange settings, location, guff like that

Also, its a dualboot, primary OS is ubuntu. Does it play ball or will i have to stick to the old xp boot

Use PC and install iTunes on windows XP. Plug in ipod and itunes will give you the option to rip the CD to the ipod.

Get Windows up to date first, then grab iTunes from the Apple website.

Also, as I recall the first time you sync/connect iPod or iThing to a different computer it will want to set up as a new device and ERASE any content so do this first before buying apps or music to save hassle later.

Same applies if plugged into another computer so best to start with the computer it is likely to always be used with.
