My step brother is building a PC, well he's got everything just waiting on PSU and a few Sata cables to turn up and I've offered to build it for him.

I was wondering how a 6870 faired in the grand scheme of things?

The system is old AMD stuff,

Athlon II (can you overclock these to help with the age?)
Some asus board,
8gb of ram
500w psu.

He's going to be using it for light gaming, I mean light and photoshop work.

He has no money, it was given to him and he needs a PC just wondered how it would be? I'm going to be nice and buy him an SSD from MM when I get paid and hopefully that'll speed it up a bit.

Probably similar to my old 6950 - fine for plenty of things, just be prepared to turn things down.

It enforces a bit of modesty, not a bad thing for life but bad for the enthusiast GPU segment!

It won't be anything new at all, the most will be Minecraft.

I get the joys of trying it out when i build it, hopefully it'll keep up with the 980Ti ;)
