Hi I bought a sapphire 280x vapour x last week which I need to send back because of a black screen at boot, how does the RMA work,do I need to pay for postage.not sure what happens as this is the first time I've RMA anything thx

From the Distance Selling regs on the Which! page...

Returning faulty goods
If you receive faulty goods and wish to return them, The Distance Selling Regulations are in addition to your other legal rights.
So, if your goods are faulty and don’t do what they're supposed to, or don’t match the description given, you have the same consumer rights under the Sale of Goods Act as you have when buying face to face.
Any terms and conditions that say you must cover the cost of returning an item wouldn’t apply where the goods being returned are faulty.

Remember that the DSR strictly only applies within the first seven days of receipt of the item unless the Seller offers longer cover. Once you are out of the DSR cover, you have to pay to return faulty goods.

I am incorrect - the Sale of Goods act gives you further protection for returning faulty goods. Again, Which! offer a template letter.

Just tell OC that you have a problem.

Why not post this in the customer service thread to avoid any speculation?

OCUK will refund any postage costs, just scan in your receipt and Bailey (I'm sure there are others too) will look after you :)

Tryed reinstalling win7/updated bios, drivers, changed PSU,changed HDD,but still getting black screen at boot, weird thing is I put the 280x in the bottom slot and put my old gtx in top slot and rebooted into windows and seen the 280x in device manager and managed to install catalyst and then pluged the HDMI into the 280x and got it to display,so removed the old gtx and nivda drivers and put the 280 back in the top slot and rebooted, still got black screen,no bio or display as it usually does but after about 20seconds it booted right into win start screen, ran benches and the card didn't fail, very strange,if I kept using the card like this I wouldn't be able to get into the bios,or use f8 or reinstall win,to do that I would need to put my old card back in to get the bio screen and then repeat everything all over again to get the display working again on he 280x,I think it maybe the bios in the card as it was stable in benches and a hour of gaming, card is the pc jst now and seems to working, still getting black screen every time i reboot but after 20seconds the windows start screen appears ,what do u think guys,.

I returned a graphics card after 6 weeks with a noisy fan.
To be fair oc were excellent, replacing the card no questions and refunding my postage costs.

I RMA'd my card for a dodgy fan (one in my sig). OCUK were absolutely brilliant. Within 24hours of them receiving it, my replacement was sent out. Was never refunded for the postage though as I never asked (didn't think I could until after reading this thread :( ).

Request an RMA in the customer support section, and be as descriptive as you can of the problem. I included a video demonstrating the problem with my request, which I think helped a lot.

Good luck!
