How does BF3 compare to Crysis?

Hi Guys,

I havn't got BF3 yet, but am interested to know how it will preform on my system before i get it.

I have just OCed my GFX card and currently get 35-45 fps in Crysis on Ultra at 1080p with 4x AA. The GPU is running at 72 degrees.

Can I expect similar results in BF3 or much worse?

Thanks

Does your card only have 1gb of mem?

Bf3's "ultra" mode seems to need more than 1gb, so you'll probably have to run it on "high" or "normal" to get smooth performance.

I wouldn't let that put you off though. I run it on "high" and it looks great. No need to run out and spend £400 just to increase a setting by 1 notch. :)

What sort of issues would you experience with gpu memory limitations?

Yeah just 1 GB.

I was thinking about getting a second 6870, but if I could run BF3 as well as I can currently run Crysis I probably wouldn't bother.

ok thanks, that is what i was looking for. Any idea now much worse? How many frames could i expect to drop for the same setting for example?

1, 5, 10, 15, 20, all of them?

You're only going to really know by trying it. BF3 is a much newer game, so performance is going to be lower on any card.
My HD5850 lets me play BF3 on High quite comfortably (40-50fps). I imagine your HD6870 will be similar.

Thanks guys, so I should be able to manage at least high settings, that is good to hear. I had better just get it and see.

Having an insentive to go crossfire wouldn't be a bad thing anyway...
