How does dual monitors work?

By plugging two monitors into the graphics card/s. Thereafter things get a little complicated. Why don't you ask your Dad to look it up on google for you. :)
 
As Leporello says, you plug two monitors in to the gfx card then you switch the monitors on and boot into your OS.

Then you'll have to configure them i.e. set different resolutions on each monitor if they are different :)

I use my macbook pro with an external 19" monitor :) I tend to use the macbook pro for games, videos, work while I watch films, surf on the on the 19"
