Ok so im getting a new TV which will be linked to a "media pc", however im just wondering how i will get the sound from the pc on the TV (ill be basically using the tv as a monitor to play games/listen to music/browse the net etc)

my graphics card is dvi, but can i get a dvi to hdmi connector and connect my pc to tv via that and get both image and sound? or do i need something else? not quite sure how it works

thank you

DVI can't transfer audio. This is one of the reasons for HDMI.
However, using a DVI->HDMI converter still won't allow you transfer the sound to the TV.

What audio inputs do you have available on your TV?
You could just run a 3.5mm cable from the line out on the soundcard / onboard sound to the TV's audio input.

If he has a ATI 2000 series or later graphics card the DVI port will transfer sound. You need to use the supplied DVI-HDMI adapter for the sound to work.
A normal DVI-HDMI cable wouldn't work.

Don't know about nvidia cards.
