How does sight / sound affect our moods?

when you say colour and pictures do you mean abstract shapes etc?

Cause when i think i think in images/video clips of things I've seen before in tv internet or real life, same sort of thing?

Not particularly, that's just simple recall techniques. I think yeraveragejoe was trying to discuss his possible synaesthesia, rather than recall, this is when one modality evoke a response in another, it's not voluntary ie. with thought.

So for example, you taste mint and you could (if you were a certain type of synaesthete) see jagged shapes, or, a great example was a young lady who was driving and she asked her friends to turn the stereo down because 'she couldn't see where she was driving' that was, the sound evoked a response in her visual cortex processing again as coloured shapes.

Not relevent to the mood, but perhaps to emphasise the power of sight on the mind;

Saw this a while back, the part where states that his patient overcame his phantom limb pain by tricking his mind that what he was seeing was his phantom limb, rather than a relfection of his other hand, just watch it and see.

Not sure if it helps, but it's very interesting.

^ Holliday - phantom limb is an interesting topic, now you mention it... one of the studies we conducted had patients who were still experiencing pain in their hands, many years after having an entire arm amputated. Ramachandran (one of the guys who I idolise in this field!), coincidentally, has done a lot of work in synaesthesia also (having used muchof his work in my essays and investigations), seems everyone has their fingers in many pies :) Great find that video, thanks!

I heard about the results of a study on the radio between the type of music you listen to in the car, and your driving style.

Expectedly, if you listen to fast and/or angry music, you drive accordingly, and the same with mellow/slower tunes.

Now to turn the study on it's head, I change *** music I'm listening to, to match how I'm driving :p If I'm in town, I'll have something slower like JT, but if I get on a motorway, I'll put some DnB on to soak up the miles. Funky House is a coverall however :D

hope this helps
