If a job is advertised at £21.4k per year, but is said to be "Term-time only (Pro-rata)"

What exactly does that mean in the way of when and how much you actually get paid? I'm a little confused as to how it all works

So when its advertised as £21k do you end up getting a total of £21k after the year like normal but with a shed load of time off? or is the time off subtracted from the £21k to give your overall yearly wage?

I'm a little confused about it all, never had to think about it before but as im thinking of applying for a job whichis term time only (network manager) i need to know if its worth bothering or not

It could be that the £21k is the full salary and will be made pro rata so that it drops. Or the salary could already have been pro-rata'd if that makes sense. :p

Perhaps best to ask them. I would have thought £21k as a full salary that has yet to be pro-rata'd is a bit low really. What kind of school is this for?

Its a secondary school, there network is only about half the size and about a fifth of the complexity of the one I deal with at the moment though - of which im only a technician rather than a manager and im on just over £15k
