I ordered my new dell system today, it comes with a 7900GS, at the moment im really only playing WOW (and maybe lord of the rings) on my laptop, but i have a 24" monitor coming with it and would like to turn the eye candy up.

The 8800GTS seems like a great bargain, is 320mb enough ram these days? Ive been so out of touch since not having a desktop system for a good year, are the 8800GTX's about to drop in price soon? Is there anything new on the horizon?

How does 2 7900GS's compare to a 8800GTS?

Cheers :)

The new ATI R600 Series are being released soon (lol)... which will be about as powerful as 8800GTSes which are less powerful than 8800GTXes which are less powerful than 8800 Ultras which are just being released...

A 6800GT at stock was more than able to handle 1920x1200 on a 24inch TFT with eyecandy at max. World of Warcraft is an extremely 'easy' game for graphics cards.

Moving up to a 7900GT, you can then add driver overrides increasing the AA levels considerable, and it will still give great performance.

You might not get full eye candy with every game, but for WOW you'll be laughing.

I managed to find the 8800GTS for £134.95 + VAT and free delivery, with the £50-60 ill get second hand for the 7900 thats in it, it seemed a bit of a no brainer upgrade :D
