How does the Apple Refurb page work?

I'm interested in a 2011 2.2 15" MBP refurbished, however I'm unsure as to how the reurbished page on the apple site works. Everytime I go on there, there's either quite a few on there or none at all. Is it just that they don't update the page often enough and end up taking them all off in one go when sold? If so, then how do you know if one of them on there hasn't already been purchased?

It's an odd question I know, but it's something I've noticed recently,

If it's on the page, they're in stock. All my gear is from the refurb store (bar my iPhone). Buying refurb you get the same one year warranty as new hardware. If you want to add AppleCare, just search for the relevant AppleCare and add that to your basket as well.

I'd assume that when Lion is available they'd make it available for refurb units as well. But I'm not to sure. In any case fire them off a quick email about it and report your findings back, because I'd also be interested to know for sure

Just used the live chat and apparently all macs bought after 6th June will receive a free update to Lion via their up to date program

Just contemplating now, whether to hope a refurbished hi-res/anti glare 15" 2011 2.2 MBP (no ssd) pops up again or just get the standard version on there now :confused:

How often does Apple receive refurbished stock roughly? Is it generally updated every day?

Not every day. Seems to be maybe every other week. Just keep checking regularly to see what's available. I usually give it a look over once a day just to see what's up there. I've been hoping to catch a 27" iMac on the friendly side of 1k

There is a dashboard widget called Refurb Me, that tells you when new stuff is added. It's usually late at night although it can vary. You never see certain things during the day because they tend to be snapped up quickly (e.g. refurb Mac Minis like mine).
