Hitting a car parked too close to you? I haven't done it just wondering, just left the house after lunch and the was a little C1 squeezed in between the back of my car and a neighbours driveway, they were ~1ft from my bumper and slightly overhanging the drive.

It took me forever to escape and it was only thanks to 4WS, A normal car would have either remained there till they returned or ended up scraping them. So im just interested to know if somebody parks dangerously close to you and you make contact who is to blame?

I think the law states you can smash the car out of the way if it's parked too close. Don't quote me on it though.

Seriously, what do you think the answer is?

Imo if you park stupidly, eg blocking someone, and they squeeze through its your own fault your car got damaged

Sit there leaning on the horn until someone emerges?

Or, be selfish and park in such a way that nobody can squeeze either side of you? Thats how I do it...

This.

It's like Demolition derby at the local Tesco car park.

we had that ar a local tesco, we were walking round then over the tannoy,

can the owner of car 1xyz please come to customer service desk followed by
can the owner of car 2xyz please come to customer service desk
can the owner of car 3xyz please come to customer service desk
can the owner of car 4xyz please come to customer service desk
can the owner of car 5xyz please come to customer service desk

some old guy had driven out of the carpark by jsut pushing all the cars in the rows out of the way, there were cars all over the place, was a very odd scene

unless you take photos showing when you parked and how you parked every time you park up then you would have to prove they parked there after you and that it wasnt you that parked badly

It makes precisely zero difference how well you parked in relation to the other cars parking - if you hit a parked car, its your fault - even if they are illegally parked!

Not particularly fair sometimes but thats the way it is!

Hypothetically speaking ofcourse...

If you're parked properly in a Pay & Display car park and someone's parked lengthways behind you (where you'd reverse out) and hasn't payed, and doesn't return to the car after waiting five minutes, and the car is a small dented banger, and you're in a Impreza.... Hypothetically reversing out and pushing the car out the way (surprisingly not actually causing any damage :p) wouldn't hypothetically be wrong.

I think the law states you can smash the car out of the way if it's parked too close. Don't quote me on it though.
Ah good, that's what I though. :D

I've nudged stupidly parked cars (usually boxed in or so close i could not open the rear door) out of the way when i used to drive vans, after making inquiry of course to get the owner there, if they couldn't be found or contacted what else could i do? :D
