How does the Search Relevance work?

Using search with default settings which is also the quick search i've found not helpful.

If there's a years old popular thread which is still used regularly now and you search for a word in the title, it won't appear in the top results of default search or date search or recent search under advanced search.

Example, search "Energy" thread title using the default search and the various advanced options.

My thinking is relevance searching, which is the default search should have least thrown the "This is getting ridiculous (energy prices.........)" thread into near the top results.

I’ve found there’s very little calculation. You press search and the OcUK fairies throw out a load of random threads.
