Cheaper Ram. The 2011 uses quad channel memory. Also you will need a heatsink/fan if you don't already have one as the cpu doesn't come with one.

Will definitely be overkill for gaming and general home use. However, if you do professional video editing a lot then it'll be handy.

just fyi the 3820 is not ocable and quad core. if you're not gonn upgrade for the forseeable future, the ivy 3570k or 3770k would be a cheaper and better option

If you're mainly just gaming with the odd bit of video editing then a i5 will prove to be a much better option, in terms of price to performance required.

As I've already mentioned above, if you are seriously going to be gaming mostly then it is most definitely overkill.

I have to tell you, without the K or the X moniker at the end of the i7-3820, I was initially very skeptical of its overclocking ability. Sandy Bridge doesn't have the greatest track record in my mind with its ability to easily overclock. For the most part, you are limited to overclocking just the turbo boost. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found, however.

bet you didnt read the part where he increased it to the turbo boost cap of x43 multiplier only?
the only other way of ocing the 3820 is via bclk
