Hi guys,

My friend and I started building my new pc last night, but we're stuck on a few things...

Firstly, when putting the new motherboard in, how do you attach this thing;

There seem to be metal 'clips' poking out that look like they're supposed to go somewhere?

Secondly...

My power button for my PC has 8x 1 Pin connectors and i'm unsure if these need to be in any particular arrangement? they go here...

Any help greeeeeeatly appreciated.

Thank you

The first metal plate should just snap into the back of the case, probably before you put the motherboard in. You should make sure that the holes are in the right places and that you put it in the right orientation!

Secondly you should work out where each of the individual cables come from, 2 will be for Reset switch, 2 will be for Power switch and the rest will depend on your case. See your case manual perhaps?
Then once you know this, you should look at your motherboard manual and then it will tell you which cable is plugged onto each pin!

Good luck!

a)you push that in from the outside of your case when your motherboard is loosely secured
b)Each one of the small wires should be labelled,there should be a diagram in your motherboard manual where each one goes,

A) It goes in from the INSIDE of the case BEFORE the mother board goes in. NOT FROM THE OUTSIDE and certainly NOT WHEN THE MOTHERBOARD IS LOOSELY SECURED!

B) See Motherboard manual for correct pin settings.

You may find that the power/reset/led switch wires are labelled up, mine were, so just refer to yr motherboard manual for where they go, as for the plate in pic 1....as ooEy says, definitely from the inside before board is fitted, it just clicks into place...don't be too forceful with it though.

By the looks of that I/O shield plate you have an Asus P8P67? That plate is really awkward, I had to bend a lot of those 'prongs' back because they ended up stuck in the USB connectors, you may have to have a few attempts at getting that right!
