Just had a little mess around overclocking the cpu a bit.

Managed to get this so far:

It's only on air cooling at the minute with an antec freezer pro 7 with Corsair Dominator GT RAM @ 1800 at the moment.
I plan on a better cooler after christmas so I can get a nice speed on it.

What do you's think?

Are you stable with that clock and vcore?

What are your load temps?

Check your QPI volts as most mobo's overvolt when left on Auto.

What is your aim in terms of max 24/7 clock?

not bad at all, but dont expect a freezer 7 pro to manage an i7 at 4Ghz.

I havn't tested its stabiliy yet but i've not had any problems. I'm going to get a new cooler soon. I'm hoping to get as high as possible really. Not for any reason though, just because it is capable.

Are those temps under full load? Seems very good if they are. My 3.6ghz Oc gets warmer then that.

No no thats just idle on air cooling.

Considering a watercooled set up though

I would run it under prime for an while and see what you get. 50C+ at idle seems a little on the warm side but its more important what it is under load. mine idles under 40C and 70C loaded with prime @3.6ghz with 1.15v.
