would go with a DS3 rather than a P5B SE.

so would i, but id change a lot of things.... he seems set on these. personally id have gone geil 6400 ram and DS3, and X1950 but there ya go... :)

just need to know if theres any compatability issues?

May as well go SATA rather than ATA HD. Its minimally faster, however the cabling is neater, with room for better airflow, and ATA is starting to become a bit neglected - some mobos only have a single ATA connector for optical drives now etc.

If he's getting the board to overclock, and is set on the P5Bs, make sure he stretches it a little further to the P5B Deluxe (with the WIFI if he desires). It's much better than the vanilla P5B.

Just to confirm, the P5BD works fine with the Geil 6400 stuff here. No idea about the OCZ.

graphics wise, just noticing, he might want to opt for a X1950XT, esp if he can find the 512MB variant. The 256MB one is less than £200, but the X1950XT is faster than the 7950GT

well hes bought the bits.... ended up buying a P5B deluxe, corsair XMS DDR2 ram and 8800gts instead. mainly due to local place being out of stock of all the rest lol.

tried to convince him to buy from OCUK but he's had some duff bits from other online places and doesnt like the hassle involved in posting back.
