I am going to be picking up an i7 920 or 860 in the next few weeks and overclock it to the most it will go. I am going to be WC the CPU you only. I was thinkink of a XSPC RX360 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-048-XS&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=1041 , Heatkiller 3.0 or Swiftech block, 3x Scthe Kaze Juni Fans http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-021-SY&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4 and a DDC Ultra pump http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-047-AC&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=1042 .

I have pretty much settled on the rad, pump and tubing (7/16" Tygon over 1/2" barbs). My main query is the cpu blocks are ok and if the fans will be suitable (I am probably not going to be using a fan controller so I dont want them too loud).
On the choice of fans - do you simply looks at fairlow and noise and come to a compromise or are some fans better suited to this rad?

all fans are built the same really the only difference is RPM and size and maybe the design of the blades. i think there are fans that are best suited or tested with certain radiators but im not sure. you can find reviews on that radiator somewhere so best to do some research.

all the stuff u listed there is absolutely fine in my pov

The Rad is excelent and standard format (look at PA120.3 as alturnative - PA is better but has minor compatabiliy issues)

Heatkiller is better block that GTZ, but GTZ is easier to install.

Are you going to add more to the loop later as the pump is massively over kill for a single block - and will give you major problems bleeding the loop (due to extremely high flow rate)

Also that pump without an aftermarket top will not work with 7/16 tube.

D5 vario is an option (can be cranked up when more blocks added or benching) and had 1/2 barbs as standard
or get the DDC-pro with a top or better still XSPC res top.

I don't use fans so can't help you there - watercooling gallery is a good place to start. the enermax cluster are popular at the minute

Thanks guys. No I am just going to W/C the CPU. I will be getting a top to go the DCC pump to take G1/4 barb fittings, and a separate res.

Yes, the 10W will be better for you. The xspc reservoir top is particularly good.

I can help with the fans. Those are completely inappropriate for a radiator, they wont push any air through it. You need fans with a high static pressure, which often isn't reported and is basically independent of the cfm readings. Yate loons, noctua P12, scythe s-flex are the standards. The scythe gentle typhoon is particularly good for radiators. The ideal will be 38mm thick, but this is probably more than you're looking for.

Cheers

Those Ultras will be fine but if you don't want to use a fan controller you may find them a little loud. One way round this is to use the 7v trick. There is a good review of these fans in the context of water-cooling so look around for it.
