How does UWP handle a format?

I need to format my machine at some point in the future and I know how Steam and the like handle this but what about UWP? I have Gears 4 installed to another drive and was hoping it would be a simple case of pointing the store to this drive and it detecting the binaries. Does anyone have any experience with this? Don't really fancy another 80+GB download. Thanks.

If the game is on another drive, then it should be just as simple as directing the install back to that directory?

Should be, but is it? These things are rarely as simple as you would expect.
