Hi All

Not having upgraded my mobile for a while, I'm interested to know how modern phones indicate the 3G signal.

I guess all phones have a signal strength indicator, but can phones give the strength of the 3G signal separately?

Or is it that you just get your signal strength, and there's a separate 3G logo which toggles on and off depending if you're in 3G?

Thanks for any help and comments.

Rgds

With my BB 9700 if im in 3G coverage i get a 3G symbol...if im not in 3G coverage then the symbol doesnt show up.

Nokia S60 shows an antenna logo for 2G, an E for EDGE, '3G' for 3G and '3.5G' for HSDPA etc.

There's a separate icon below to display whether there is a data connection open

On my sony ericsson, i get a 3G when i have 3G signal and a seperate signal strength bar, or it turns to a H and a seperate signal indicator.

iPhone has a blue dot for GPRS, E for EDGE and 3G for 3G. Not sure about HSDPA actually, will have to go look into that one.
