So gets woken at 430am this morning by alerts on phone that someone's at front door and then a clattering sound for about 20 seconds. Turns out it's a chap shoving my National Geographic subscription in the letterbox as a hand delivered item folded in half. Stops to take a picture half way in the letterbox then shoving it through.

Obviously did not know this having just woken up so was thinking some jakies trying the door while trying to wake up thinking it's time to stand and bang in my boxers :p. So good people of GD is this a tad too early to be expecting a wake up call or am I just getting old and grumpy and tired my sleep was cut short?

That’s certainly too early. I too would have been up in my boxers ready to stand and bang.

Before 6am is too early for letterbox shenanigans.

I would have opened the door and shouted abuse, waking up hours later probably not remembering anything happened. That's ridiculously early and I doubt that person delivering is allowed to be doing such an early shift delivery. They are probably just given all their mail to deliver and therefore they are choosing to start that early to get it all done asap.

For a package that I would have to sign for, or wouldn't fit through my letterbox, yes 4:30 is far too early.

For a magazine that fits through my letterbox, really don't care when they deliver it.

They probably have double or even triple the usual amount of post to deliver, given how many people are in lockdown and ordering online stuff they'd usually just grab from WHSmiths on the way to work, or something.
Starting that early is probably the only way they'll finish work in time to even bother going home afterward.

Erm... Disney+ anyone? I get my National Geographic from there for £60/year and you obviously got Disney / Marvel / Star Wars on there too.

04:30 is early but that's around the same time as the milkman, so meh.

4:30AM is way too early, sod that. 8AM yeah or around them I think would be best.

Saying that I used to walk to work at 4:30AM so... Maybe not so uncommon.

To answer the question, yes it's way to early to have your phone alerting you of people outside your front door. Turn them off and buy a proper alarm system if you're that worried about security?

Cool the general opinion was it was way too early and I was not just being a grump :D

Quite the assumption. I have a good security system and it was my Unify doorbell camera alerting me. You know doing what its meant to before he then started clattering with the letterbox and taking pictures.
