how easy is it to transfer my OS to a SSD

id honestly just do a fresh install of windows on the SD then transfer the remaining files etc across. Fresh install from time to time help rid of driver errors andany other issues that might slow the pc down

the amount of progs i got installed i need to use, will take weeks, not sure where or how they are, been using them for well over 2 years

can i not just transfer the OS and make boot time faster?

It's fairly straight forward. If you have more than a 1TB of Data. Create a partition of Windows files and a seperate partition for your Data. Or move as much data as you can to a separate drive.
You can download and use a trial version of Macrium reflect to clone your C: drive, to the new SSD. Then make sure you set that as the Boot drive. If you've moved the data to a separate drive. Then format the 2Tb and move it back.

this is what i have

Doesnt look like you've got much wriggle room. You need to trim anything you can. Run Disk Clean-up (Right-click the drive in windows explorer, properties, Disk clean up) and clean up system files. Create a 2nd partition on Disk 2, as big as possible, once you've got rid of some data. Move as much data as you can into that. Then increase its size to at least 900 GB, then move more data. The data you move, must not be linked to programs that depend on them being where they are. So move Documents, Pictures, video's etc.
Macrium reflect, should allow you to do all of this.

i dont have "Right-click the drive in windows explorer, properties, Disk clean up"

i think i can see where your going tho, if i can make my c drive partition down to less than 1tb, by moving stuff over to another partition/drive , THEN i can clone it and all would work, aslong i dont move "installed" progs, just saved data files

im hoping itll be that easy

Is the SSD you have bought drive L in that screenshot? If so you have bought a 120GB SSD and you are no where near close enough?

If the 1TB drive is another one you should now be able to use something like macrium reflect and just clone your C drive to the new one. You will need to put the new SSD into your system or a USB caddy for the process to work though.

the 1tb ssd is coming today, that ssd in L is another

after its cloned, i wont need any boot/install windows cd will i?

im thinking i just make the new ssd the boot drive and everything will be the same, all registry files, passwords, logins etc?

Nice job on moving all that data.
You get about 930GB usable space on a 1TB drive. so should be good to go. There is a rule of thumb that you shouldn't use more than 80%. But that's for a normal HDD. Not sure if it applies to SSDs though. Just see how the performance is.
Have you downloaded Macrium yet? Have a play with it. It is a fairly straight forward app. My 70 year old father in law, has done it!
It may complain about partition size, even though you have shrunk your data. Use Partition Magic to shrink it down to about 930GB.
