How far to overclock for gaming?

Hi,

How far should I overclock for gaming? I'm not really interested in the best benchmarking scores, just the best gaming experience.

My i5 2500k is currently at 4.5Ghz with a max temp of 64deg and max 1.328V after running IBT.

Will I see much benefit from pushing my chip further?

Hey , in my opinion not really. You will see a difference in the most CPU intensive games like FS-X for example but with the vast majority of games 4,5 is plenty and any further improvement will be very small.
Your graphics card , assuming its the card in your sig will get maxed out now before your processor i would say !

Yeah - i'm running the 6950. Think i'll leave it at 4.5 then.

My 2500k is on 4.6 for gaming, just because..well because it can.

If it was mine i would try to get 4.8GHz.

mine 2500k is on 4.9 for gaming very happy for a long time now

Put it back to stock clocks,you'll be suprised how little difference if any coming from 4.5ghz,should be able to play any game fine with a decent gpu at stock CPU clocks

for games like skyrim maybe, todays cpus are pretty good without oc and of course, it has turbo mode so its usually good enuf
