How far will it go (e8400)

I bought last saturday a shiny new E8400 in place of a E6500 (as a christmas present to myself. :D)
I overclocked it straight away to 3.6GHz and was happy with that (i knew the temptation to overclock it further would get me), well lastnight i gave in to my demons and left Orthos running at 3.8GHz overnight and woke to find it ran for 12 hours no errors. :D .
Not wanting to stop there im now running 4GHz. I have water cooling and have not gone over 40c underload when i ran Orthos this morning, and 27c idle.
All this done with only giving it 1.2625v in bios and 1.232v in cpu-z. The 3.6 and 3.8 overclocks were achieved with stock voltage. The temps didn't go over 39c and 25 idle. Dont know what stock temps would be as i have not tried:)
Ill Orthos it longer later and get back to you as to how long i ran it and the out come.
Now my question.....
How much more do you guy and girls think ill get out of it. I know having water cooling helps

My Rig is
Intel C2C E8400 @ 4GHz (445*9)
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
2*2048 OCZ PC2-6400 (@890 5,5,5,15)
MSI NX8800GT (181.00 Drivers)
2*400gb Samgung Sata Hd
2*250gb (1*samsung. 1*WD)
Watercoolings base on a swifttech pump and waterblock.
3*120mm radiator. Frontbay res.
Coolermaster 831 case (bottom hacked to get rad in :))
 
Just got an E8500, it's at 4.2GHz ORTHOS stable, and i've had it in windows at 4.6.

@ 1.344V atm in CPU-Z but I think I might get it running on a lower voltage with some playing :)

If you have an E0 stepping like me, you should be able to get it to 4.2GHz at least with a decent motherboard

Looks good, though for an E0 stepping I am pretty sure you can lower the voltage to reach 4ghz on an e8400 (~1.15V I think). If you leave the core voltage on auto in the bios it automatically raises it depending on the fsb.
 
well after playing with mine for when i first got it, im still on 3.6 but wondering how far i can go too.
how much of performance gain would i see going from 3.6 to 3.8 or even 4ghz?
i beleive it will be the memory the limiting factor?

Lower volts tend to mean less heat and the cpu should last longer. 1.3V isn't high though so if it is too much hassle just leave it as it is.

Most ddr2 800 memory can do 445mhz to give 4ghz on the e8400. Had mine clocked to 4.1ghz on a C0 stepping and brought it down to 3.6ghz as the temps were bit high for my liking and in most apps I cannot feel much difference.

had a little play again last night after reading this post !!! now got it to 3.8 and stable:D
not sure how far to push it tho, but ot be honest ive already had massive jump from amd 939 @ 2.2ghz to this E8400 3.6ghz :D so im more than happy.
