How fast can you go for 6k?

one of my friends has decided to get a fast car and he wants to know what car to get. He just wants pure speed.... No luxuries really (within reason). He does not want a westfield/caterham or anything like that...
I was thinking a Scooby P1? or maybe something like a skyline/300zx? What do you guys think?

Didn't Top Gear buy a £1k Jag, spent £500 on some tuning and NOS and then it out did about 5 supercars?

1st or 2nd season of the new format, as the old black Stig killed himself in it at the end of the 2nd season.

Depends what sort of thing he wants. He could get a big barnstorming V8 saloon like an M5 or would he prefer a nippy little track car like an elise?

Its only going to be a matter of time before someone points out the fastest you can go for 6k would be a bike....

A good healthy LT1 C4 Corvette will do nigh on 170MPH in the right conditions bone stock and when modified, well....how fast do you want to go?

An LT4 will do over that but much harder to find....

Depends what he wants though, as everyone says...hardly a stripped out racer.

Book up bike training / take test / buy leathers lid etc / buy mint v low milage Hayabusa / spend a little on tuning and you should get well over 190mph

Actually some £100 bangers you'd not feel safe in them doing 70mph, whereas the Koenigsegg you'd feel very comfortable doing 70mph.

6k for a p1 isnt realistic and they arent any faster than an sti, you could easily get a 400 ish hp scoob for that money, thats pretty quick

I doubt £6k would get a P1 as you say, but, I'd imagine something like a useable 4x4 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth would be within budget.

I know which I'd rather blat down a twisty road - not the one with a Griffin on the badge!

And it being a Cosworth, the chances of it merely having its std 220bhp are slim I'd guess.....

£6k buys nice e34 M5's & e36 M3's though......
