How fast can you type?

I'm not the fastest typist and plus my keyboard is pretty bad considering its a cheap membrane keyboard (backup, I had cherry red but didn't like them, blues are next )

Yeah, My keyboard is rubbish too, but I gave it a go, I was typing one handed, whilst eating some soup at lunch.. on a keyboard with 32 missing keys and giving a lecture on the ups and downs of the African 3 eyed tree bat.

I can't remember what I got on mech keyboard, as I use this test to test keyboards out. But yeah, my current keyboard is cheap 3 pound membrane from argos

This is god damn evil, and addicting mind you!

The words aren't in logical sense though, so your brain has a WTF moment when the next word you have to type is not something that usually relates to the word you just typed. Your brain recognizes something is wrong, tries to make sense of it, and that loses you a few milliseconds. Yet when you are typing up anything normal, emails etc. your brain has learnt how to recognize words relevant to the words you write. This test breaks those rules, therefore not really showing what you are truly capable of.

I had that too many times, just looking at the word and stalling half a second cause it just ain't right

Edit: 37 wpm 184 keystrokes no wrong words, says I'm better than 56.28% of all users which you can imagine is utter crap, considering what you keyboard destroyers are all getting. Need to change my name now, keyboards must wish for me to be their owner

That's another issue with this test, I would like a test where we would have to write logical sentences. I'll have a little search to see if I can find anything like that.

This is the most hilarious humblebrag I've seen in a long time.

Edit: to answer the OP's question, I can type around 100-120wpm in these online typing tests, but they're not an accurate representation of real world typing speed. I doubt I type faster than 75wpm when I'm typing something real instead of an artificial test with limited punctuation and vocabulary.

On Ratatype and TypeRacer I average on 73-78, can't beat my highest of 86wpm atm.

Mine is quite slow haha, but i am a two finger typer, cant imagine what over 100wpm typing looks like, thats pretty cool!

I use all my fingers the way that my secondary teacher taught me ages ago, we had to do speed typing tests from time to time. My friend who's a programmer did 101wpm at first try on type racer and 137wpm on 10fastfingers, I saw him typing compared to him I'm slow
