how fast is conroe 6600 to athlon xp

A lot faster for example in super pi test the athlon would probably take 1m 15 sec to complete 1m, 6600 does it in 20 sec. What test do want to compare?

Probably about 4 x faster, ish. Doesn't mean everything will be, but its a substantial difference. Multithreaded apps will benefit more.

As a rough idea, My E6300 is running at about stock E6600 speed at the moment and this is the CPU arithmatic test in Sandra, compared to an Athlon XP 2000 & 3200 -

I went from an XP2500+ to a E6600 & the outlay was definatly worth it.

I use pc mainly for encoding to XViD & have noticed a HUGE difference in the time taken to do stuff.

Totally Recomended.

youll appreciate the speed more having gone from the xp2600 to the 6600 :)
most peeps have worked their way thru socket 754 , then 939 then dual core 939 and now onto conroe , wish i could hold off long enough to see such a speed ramp.

It would be intersting to know the speed differenance between the 2500 and the 6600, i always remember a figure of 50% being given as the differance between the xp3200 and the FX55

Right well I have a mobile barton Athlon XP2500+ in this here laptop, I just ran super PI on 1m test. It took 1m 5s, now compare the same to my E6600 and the conroe does it in 16s so its allot faster.

One thing to bear in mind with things like those Sandra benchmarks is that a Conroe or an X2 are dual core. On a program that is single threaded and doesn't take advantage of dual-cores, you will not see anywhere near that sort of performance.

So it's actually over twice as fast as my little Sempron at 2.6 taking 36 seconds

Just ran the 1M test on my Athlon 64 3700+ and it came in at 36 seconds which I guess is somewhere in the middle ground between an Athlon XP and Conroe.

Hope this gives a bit more help for comparison.

Clocked my old opty 146 to 3GHZ and it managed 26.7 seconds.Built a e6400 C2D system and upped it to 2.6GHZ SuperPi 17 seconds
