How fast is my server?

If you have access to a 10mbit+ connection, can you please download a file from my server and tell me how fast it goes

to help put it into context, can you also try grabbing this file

Well on my 4Mbit synced DSLMax line I got 425KB/s steady.

Maxing out at 1.1MB a second here... I assume your server is only on a 10mbit port?

I'm getting 3.2MB/s from BY.

yeah mine did 4.9 M/Byte per second on a 100 meg link

I have a UK Server but the speed wasnt too good and I wanted to find out if it's just me. My host assures me they are doing upgrades this week so maybe it will get better.

It is on a 100mbit port but certain countries are restricted for the time being.

If I ping the box from my london server, the latency is only 8ms. Can easily get 100mbit with that Adz! The problem is the traffic shapping (temporary I hope). Network upgrades are suppoesd to be today or tomorrow.

I suspect theres a bit of contention going on at BY as we peer with them directly and thus should be able to max out our link to them (100Mbit):

My traceroute is gaining 20-25ms within the Proxad network. It would suggest a congested link somewhere.

Thanks for the info guys you have helped me a lot. I will probably resurrect this thread next week to see if things have improved.

By the way, my average ping is only 23ms and that is on a cable modem. On a direct connection, it is 8ms. :confused:

I downloaded the file from work where we have a 100 meg connection. The download speed didn't drop below 3.5MB/Sec.

Wicked. Seems like the previous issues have been resolved.
