How fast should an EK9 Type R be?

Reason I ask is because in a straight line my car is quicker than his by about 2-3 car lenghs by 100mph.

I was looking at some specs yesterday and it says 0-60 in 5.7 and it has 185BHP ?? Surely that's not right for the a 1.6? Plus i'm quite sure my little 172 isn't sub 6 ha ha (i think it's a good one though as now it's decatted my mates VXR only passes me after 100, before the decat it was 70)

When I was in it it felt quick but the lack of torque is noticable, it just seems to get a lot faster but doesn't feel it. Also it's spins the wheels slightly right until 3rd on gearchange:eek: I think that's why they put an LSD on it :D(Cusco).

Also whats that fluttering noise when it's high into VTEC? It sounds immense when you're outside of the car and it's not the limiter.

Well it was a rolling start in 1st at about 10mph to make it a bit fairer. He also had a go against my mates cammed and tuned VTS and the VTS wasn't far behind, about a cars length to 100 (The VTS was closing the gap by 80ish too)

The handling is very good on it though none of us could really catch it in the twisties and yes he drives very hard I think he mentioned 9k LOL.

So what's the fluttering noise?

Not sure the book times of the 0-100, i don't have any accurate timing equipment either but I might persuade him to get one of those timing meter things as i'm quite interested.

gursan, not sure if it's the same, it's kind of like a pre limiter noise before it his the real limiter and at 9000+ RPM it sounds unreal, i'll try and get a few vids next time i'm in it. Another thing, that drinks some serious petrol when driving hard!

EK9 with A/C etc. does 60 in 6.5s ish. 5.7s isn't cobblers but I believe this was achieved in a lightweight version? A 172 shouldn't pull away from one though, not if the Civic's driven properly anyway.

Just noticed your location, where does the guy with the 9 live?

No idea with the fluttering noise, mine sounds pretty awesome:D

Crikey that's fast, not fully sure what it's got to do with the EK9 though.

He lives in Hillsborough, he's not scared to open it up either, entering roundabouts in 1st etc:eek:

the 106's are quick when modded, haven't been troubled by one yet though.

In the old 2L hybrid my mates VTS kept up.. it has unknown mods though, from what I can see:

16" Oz lightweight wheels
massive brakes front and back
heat wrapped manifold
heat wrapped pipercross induction kit
some custom ecu loom

If I start behind him i'm passed him by 70 ish, what manifolds are on the VTS's? It got some wrapped tubular jobbie.
