How good are Sennheisers PC 151 headphones?

Well, seeing as everyone thoroughly recommended the headphones, my brother did not hesistate one second in ordering them.

Well, for a start they look well built and very comdy, albeit larger than I thought they would be.

Mic came across clear over msn live chat.

Quality-wise I tested them first on my laptop with onboard sound with (1) a .mov , and (2) fast and furous 3 ost mp3.

They did drown a lot of the background noise and were quite immersive. Sound quality was not very crisp and a bit muffled.

I then tried them on my brother's 5.1 Xfi pc and still a bit muffled but better than the laptop sound. It was only when I maxed out the treble that the sound became a lot crisper. Still nowhere as good as the music when they are blasting out of 5.1 speakers.

To compare then:
(1) versus a pair of headphones I bought 2 for 1 in a £1 shop. :rolleyes: No guesses here which were better.
(2) versus my own Sony neckband headphones. The sony ones came out much crisper and more bassier but not as immersive as the pc151 ones.

Sorry to hijack but I'm after some for podcasting.

Any big difference between the 151 and 161?

Also any benefits on a USB headset?
